Managing Extended Leave for Your Freedom Maker
If your Freedom Maker needs to take extended leave, as Independent Contractors, they decide how much time they will take before returning to work with you.
Notification from Your Freedom Maker
We ask our Freedom Makers to inform clients as soon as they feel comfortable, ideally with at least 8 weeks' notice. Once a Freedom Maker decides on their leave duration, they will notify you.
Next Steps: Ways We Can Help
If these options don’t fit your needs, contact the Client Success Team or book a call.
- Pause the Assignment: If a temporary replacement isn’t worth the effort, we can pause your assignment and resume when your Freedom Maker returns. Ask your Freedom Maker to complete tasks in advance as much as possible.
- Temporary Replacement: We provide a Freedom Maker as a temporary replacement for leave longer than a month. You may interview up to four candidates or let us recommend one or two. There’s no charge for finding a temporary replacement. If the leave is less than a month and you need help, reach out to Sharmin.
- Transition to a New Freedom Maker: If your current Freedom Maker no longer fits your needs, we can help find a better match by revisiting your task list and goals. Schedule a meeting to discuss.
Wrapping Up the Extended Leave
About 2 weeks before the leave ends, we’ll check in with you both to finalize the transition back. You can choose overlap with the temporary Freedom Maker or a direct handoff. Our Operations team will adjust/transfer hours in Ivy accordingly.
Other Possible Scenarios
- Keeping the Temporary Freedom Maker Long-Term: If you want the temporary Freedom Maker to stay on, ask them if they are willing. You can either keep both Freedom Makers or transition fully to the temporary one. If transitioning, notify the Client Success Team promptly.
- Extended Leave Beyond Agreed Duration: If your Freedom Maker extends their leave beyond what you can accommodate, we can find a suitable replacement.
If you need to take extended leave
- Talk with your Freedom Maker as soon as possible.
- Discuss if you’d like the Freedom Maker to pause work or work while you are away.
- If you are adding new work to your Freedom Maker’s plate, prepare workflows or record a Loom video to explain the how-to’s.
- Drop Sharmin or Sarah a note to let us know, so our internal team can ignore the “inactive notifications” in Ivy while you are away.
